Lord of the Rings

model castles bore me

He invited me to visit New Zealand to check out some of the locations where he shot the movie. Needless to say, I was very excited.

When I arrived, he gave me a tour of his special effects studio, where they shot many of the pivotal scenes.

Well, it turns out that the whole movie is a sham. They didn’t actually film anything in real castles. They used model castles instead. This was very disappointing news.

Apparently most people know this, but I had no clue. I’m not very hip on movie special effects.

This is understandable considering your sheltered and holy life and all the time you spend on grooming yourself. Cheer up, though, you can visit your home in Germany where they have real castles.

Oh Popey! I hate modle castles too! I can see how you like the LOTR movies, you see yourself as a Frodo character fighting against the evil forces.

As long as we're on the subject, what's the official Vatican word on the Narnia film?

That's okay. You've been pretty busy blessing people and praying, but you've really slacked off on blessing blogs.

How did you get Peter Jackson's email address? Do you have Bono's?

I'm not sure you want to know this, but Charleton Heston didn't really spread the Red Sea in the 10 Commandments either. It was all done in a little bath tub in a studio in New Zealand I think.

Bummer, your Holiness. I saw some of the models and was really impressed. I guess it all depends on what you're expecting going in...

Hey, your holiness, what's up? Where have you been? Did someone lock you in a Vatican closet somewhere? Hope you make it out soon. Miss ya

Well I agree all those locales shown in movies are CGI generated.

Star Wars wasn't filmed in outerspace, either.

I DO love the effects in LOTR and really wish those castles, etc., DID exist. *sigh*

Gary, don't tell me those weren't Charlton Heston's real nipples, either!
