Pope TV

With the announcement of the new video ipod, I'm thinking this will be a great way for people to download my weekly speeches and see me in action. I just need to decide on a price. Television show dowloads cost $1.99 per episdode, but what could I charge? I'm not offering cheap entertainment, I'm offering blessings. I think I could charge at least $5.00 per speech and $10.00 per mass. I could also offer a short weekly blessing for $1.00. I need to talk with my agent.

I'm thinking you could do a subscription service. Like XM Radio or DirecTV. You could have The Mass Channel, The Blessing Network, The Pope Sings The Classic Hymns, Psalm-Net, you get the idea. The worshippers could get just the channels/downloads that they want, or go for the Total Pope Package.

Think big. You're worth more than that.

Your Holiness

Whatever you charge, it will be too much. The Catholic Church just makes too damn much $$$$.
I know a local priest who charges $200 for sex. That's way too much. The Methodists are a lot more reasonable.

Your Holiness, how about Pope Joe Bloopers? That whole thing with the duvet cover must have been pretty hilarious.

Oh! I love the blooper idea! Go with it Your Holiness!

But back to your original idea: Don't go cheap. That will look trashy. You are the BIG guy. What would the Stones charge? Madonna? You deserve as much as they would get.

How about selling absolutions? You could charge $10 per sin, and really rake in the cash! Maybe you could market them as indulgen...never mind.

If I get the Mass downloads, will that be a daily or weekly service ? If other believers enjoy the download on a non-commercial basis, is that a fair use ? I suspect your licensing agreement provides that if I take a collection, it belongs to you.

We have a televised Sunday Mass here, and a family member who is too ill to go to church tapes it and watches it later on Sunday. I'll bet see'll prefer your podcast to the current, VHS instant re-pray.

The blooper idea would show my humanity (and some laughs)--which might bring more people into the church. Let me think about this.
